About the lake county democratic party
The primary goal of the Lake County Democratic Party (aka Lake County Democratic Executive Committee) is to build a strong Democratic base of voters upon which every Democratic Party candidate can stand!
This strong base is accomplished through individual Precinct Committeemen/women who are responsible for contacting Democratic voters in their precinct for the purpose of recruiting volunteers, keeping them informed about current issues and turning out the vote for each election.
The Lake County Democratic Party meets the 2nd Thursday of the month at the Tavares Civic Center, 100 E. Caroline St., Tavares, FL at 6:30 PM. Come early (6:00) to enjoy a great dinner and enjoy a discussion period before our Party meetings as an opportunity to vent and catch-up with current events.
We have 8 Clubs/Caucuses throughout Lake County, from Leesburg to Clermont to Mt. Dora! From registering new voters, to phone banking and canvassing for candidates, you can find some way to be involved with our Party! We actively support and recruit Democratic candidates We’re active in our communities in various ways…Parades…MLK Celebrations as well as our own fundraising events.
Nancy Hurlbert is the Chair of the Lake County Democratic Party and is supported by a Steering Committee and the Democratic Executive Committee (DEC), comprised of more than 75 Precinct Committeemen and women (aka Precinct Captains)
If YOU are interested in expanding the Lake County Democratic Party and can give of your time and enthusiasm, please stop by our office at 4400 N. Hwy 19A Suite 7, Mount Dora 32757, call (352) 800-4984 or email email@example.com.
The Lake County Democratic Party was established in the 1950’s and has a long and varied history, including being the majority Party in the 1970s. We saw an unprecedented turnaround in voter registration in 2007, when newly registered Democrats (3,626) outnumbered newly registered Republicans (3,511) in Lake County, a precursor of the 2008 elections. Today we have the opportunity, due to the current political climate, to expand and bring about real change. Lake County Democrats want to be instrumental in bringing about that change.
- Strengthening not weakening Social Security & Medicare for our kids & grandkids.
- Uniting, not destroying, immigrant families who contribute to our economy.
- Preserving our environment for the future, not exploiting it for profit today.
- Expanding, not crippling, public education & affordable health care.
- Fighting for wage fairness, not helping “Wall Street” gouge our economy.
- Protecting, not denying civil & voting rights for ALL Americans.
